As Founder Secretary of Venugopal Institute Of Independent Mathematics, I’m used to turning a vague mathematical thought into something precise. Tell me what you have in mind, or just the topic, and we can open it up.

About

I am Professor Dr. Thothathri Venugopal, a mathematician, educator, researcher and academic leader with four decades of experience in higher education. I am the Founder Secretary of the Venugopal Institute of Independent Mathematics (VIIM), guided by "Mathematics as a Way of Thinking."

I have held senior academic and administrative roles, including Professor of Mathematics, Dean of Research and Innovation, Registrar (Evaluation), Controller of Examinations and Director of Research and Publications.

My interests include Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Operations Research, Optimization, Graph Theory, Mathematical Logic, Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking. I connect mathematical ideas with real-world problems through modelling, simulation, computation and open-source software.

My academic contributions include 106 publications in Web of Science/SCIE, Scopus and peer-reviewed venues, 10 books, and guidance for 21 M.Phil. and 17 Ph.D. scholars. My research includes Jaina Logic and AI, multi-valued logic, decision-support systems, network optimization and mathematics education.

I have contributed to human-development frameworks including the Human Excellence Quotient (HEQ), Humane Quotient (HuQ) and Vision Excellence Quotient (ViQ), developed with Dr. Rachiraju Sai Krishna.

Through VIIM, I promote independent mathematical thinking, conceptual understanding and real-world problem-solving beyond memorising formulas. I am particularly interested in using AI to support inquiry and reasoning while preserving human judgement.
